We vibed with Jill and Travis immediately after our very first call! When they told us they chose The Refinery at Perona Farms as their wedding venue, we were totally stoked. This was our very first wedding we worked in the newly built space at Perona Farms and it did not disappoint!
The vision for their wedding day was romantic, boho-chic with earth tones and a Summery twist. Bridesmaids wore mismatched floral dresses that they picked themselves (and they looked amazing together)! Travis wore a classic, black tux, which offset Jill’s more “earthy” look. Her Rue De Seine wedding dress with removable flowing sleeves was to die for! And LET ME TELL YOU does this chick know how to accessorize. To visit the shops that helped her pull together her look, check our vendor notes at the very end of this post!
Jill and I bonded over getting ring sets from the same place, Alexis Russell jewelry which has an alternative, unique and edgy style compared to the traditional diamond engagement ring. They’re also awesome because they use ethically sourced and sustainable gemstones which was extremely important to us when choosing our rings! Like I said, this girl has style.
The actual tea is that their day was flawless. By goss, we just mean we could go on and on about the amazing details. The couple got ready right on site in the suites provided in the Refinery. If you book a wedding here and don’t use their suites, what are you doing?? The suites are so convenient and the venue generously provides you and your bridal party with a killer lunch. It’s so stress-free to get ready on site so you’re not driving all around before your first look or ceremony. Couples are so much more at ease as the coordinators help whisk us all away in the golf carts and navigate to a first look spot. We love “the orchard” with the tree-line rows for the first look. It’s a more private spot (that your friends & fam can secretly watch from the suite window!)
After doing HER OWN hair and makeup, Jill met Travis in the ceremony area, since it was drizzling. They had a really sweet and private moment together. Then we carted over and did portraits in the orchard, followed by shooting all around the venue. We used the greenhouse, pathways and finally the covered ceremony area for bridal party and family portraits. That covered ceremony area is the best idea for any wedding venue space EVER because it still gets natural light. It’s the perfect rain contingency plan, and on a nice warm day they can open the ceiling! This June wedding was a little gray and misty (which only helped the moody style of the day) but it was awesome to have that option! Kudos to Perona Farms for thinking of that when building the Refinery space!
We could go on and on about the details, but the real story here is the KILLER party. Big-ups to Bryan Festa of Elegant Music Group for listening to this couple’s emo/punk/metal music requests. This was 100% the crowd for it, and Steve and I had a great time, too! If you’re ending the night with Chop Suey by SOAD, you’re doing your wedding right.
“We met at a frat party on my (Jill) 20th bday- who said romance is dead?! He avoided me, I persisted, he gave in, and the rest is history. In our spare time we like obsessing over our dog Marshall who is deaf and perfect. The last show we binged was Schitt’s Creek (David is my spirit animal) and now I’m forcing Trav to watch vampire diaries while I rewatch it ???? !!”
