Classic Summer Wedding: The Reserve at Perona Farms

This classic Summer wedding at the The Reserve at Perona Farms was a dream! To say Izzy & JT’s wedding was a long time coming is an understatement! We’ve gotten to know these two SUPER well. It all started when they met in 2012. When they hired us in 2018 for their 2020 wedding, no one knew the pandemic would cause all sorts of prolonged postponements. We photographed their Perkins Memorial Tower engagement session in 2019 and by 2020 these two were making the difficult to decision to postpone their big day. They did still have a beautiful intimate ceremony at their church in 2020, but the day they dreamed of for so long would have to wait. But we’ll tell you this, it was absolutely worth the wait!!

The vision for this wedding at The Reserve was romantic, classical and whimsical. Blush tones invited the Summer season and Izzy’s elegant Martina Liana gown by Essense of Australia with a flowing cathedral veil was pure magic. The girls prepped at Casa Hudson, which is an extremely beautiful restored villa located in Haverstraw, NY. Overlooking the Hudson River with tons of natural light, this B&B feels extraordinarily old world European with a modern twist.

The ceremony took place at the same church where they held their intimate ceremony the previous year, St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY. When we returned to The Reserve, we gathered the bridal party in their newly renovated ceremony space followed by portraits of the bride and groom alone out by the tree-lined “orchard.”

Early Cake Cutting = More Time for Dancing!

As guests started arriving for cocktail, Izzy and JT asked us if they could cut their cake during this time instead of later on in the night. They didn’t want to break up the party for the photo-op! This was an excellent idea and we just want to share this with anyone in the wedding planning process that you can do WHATEVER you want! In whatever order you want. If you want to dance the night away without any interruptions (especially if you’ve been waiting as long as these two for their party) then by all means – let’s cut the cake whenever you want! (and eat it, too!)

About the Couple

“JT and I met during the summer of 2012 at a summer camp. JT was a baseball instructor, and I was a counselor at the time. He caught my eye back then, but I thought I was too cool for him and kept it a secret. The following summer we both returned to work at Gate Hill Day Camp, except that summer JT had a girlfriend and I was absolutely bummed when I found out. As the summer came to an end, so did JT’s relationship with his college girlfriend, which I was completely THRILLED about. We’ve been together since that summer, and JT proposed to me in June at the restaurant we went to on our first date.”

“As a couple, we’ll pretty much do anything for pizza and we’re currently on a quest to find the best slice in the tristate area. We both work in schools; JT is a physical education/health teacher and I’m a school psychologist. “
