Ahhh where to begin with Suzy and Eric. We’ve known these two for quite some time, first meeting them while seeing (and photographing) them perform in their band. And after forming our mutual friendship with the couple, we had the honor of photographing both their Laurelwood Arboretum engagement session as well as their intimate courthouse ceremony that took place before they moved off to Indiana! It felt like an honor to witness that private union before hugging goodbye. But it wasn’t goodbye for long, as the plan was to photograph their bigger March wedding at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ after they returned for a bit. And we continue to keep in touch and see them periodically when they visit New Jersey. <3
A rustic and romantic ambiance, accentuated by lush green botanicals and elegant blue and white florals. The venue featured predominantly wood and brick elements, which is the essence of Waterloo Village’s charm. Inspired by the farmhouse aesthetic, the couple aimed for a tasteful balance without overwhelming the senses. Delicate twinkling lights added a touch of magic. While the event primarily took place during the daytime, they aspired to infuse a chic sense of moodiness befitting the late winter setting. The vision was free from specific themes, allowing for a uniquely tailored experience.
Some noteworthy special touches included the fact that the bride’s makeup artist & hair stylist were her friends. Their photographers (hi!) were their friends. Additionally, the officiant was a close friend of both the bride & groom. He led a touching ceremony with anecdotes only a good friend who has been there though it all could know.
The bride’s dress was Pronovias from Cherished Bridals and the bridesmaid dress was from Lulus. The Groom’s suit was from Bonobos.
In a quaint corner of Stanhope, New Jersey, amidst the whimsical charm of Waterloo Village, Suzy and Eric embarked on a journey to celebrate their love in a style uniquely their own. This alternative couple, with hearts full of adventure and a love for all things unconventional, crafted a wedding that was more than memorable.
Suzy and Eric’s love story is one of shared passions. Bonded by their love for music and a zest for life and all things quirky, they found in each other a kindred spirit. Their March wedding at Waterloo Village was the culmination of their love story – a celebration of their unique bond and shared dreams.
Though the couple had moved to Indiana, they knew that New Jersey held a special place in their hearts – a place where memories were made and friendships forged. (I mean, sorry Indiana but we all know where the emo scene and good bagels are). And so, they returned to their roots, to be surrounded by friends and family as they exchanged vows in a sweet and intimate ceremony in front of the rustic stone fireplace at Waterloo Village.
Suzy and Eric eschewed traditional wedding norms in favor of a day that truly reflected their personalities and passions. Every detail of their wedding day exuded their unique sense of cool style and individuality.
As a couple deeply passionate about music, it was only fitting that Suzy and Eric’s wedding reception featured a throwback punk playlist that had everyone on their feet. As the night wore on and the music filled the air, the dance floor became a stage for a joyous celebration, complete with the couple ascending on chairs for the Hora.
Suzy and Eric’s whimsical March wedding at Waterloo Village was a celebration of love, individuality, and the joy of gathering with your pals and dancing your faces off. It was just one of those days we felt so lucky and honored to be a part of.
“We started dating in 2008 after meeting through mutual friends, when Suzy and her friends made cakes for Eric’s former band. Eric then asked Suzy out with an ice cream cake he made at his old job (Dairy Queen). He wrote “Will you be my girlfriend?” on the cake and we’ve been together ever since. Our dating anniversary is 3/16 which is fun because it’s Stone Cold Steve Austin Day and we’re both big pro wrestling fans. Now we play in the same band together and like to binge ’90s sitcoms and anime. We also have two cats we’re obsessed with and are preparing for a move to the Midwest!!”
