If Alex and Ryan’s Spruceton Inn wedding looks familiar on our blog it’s because you might have previously seen last year’s post! A quick blurb from last year:
“Alex & Ryan had their wedding planned at Spruceton Inn, a b&b (that’s bed & bar) beautifully nestled between the mountainous landscape of the Catskills. A hidden gem in West Kill, NY, it’s the most perfect spot for an intimate ceremony. However, the original plan was not a covid-friendly intimate ceremony. The gathering was meant to be fairly intimate – but it wasn’t meant to be only 10 people, which is all who were present. Thanks to the pandemic, Alex and Ryan had to really scale down their already small plans even further. Like many 2020 couples, they moved the larger affair to 2021, at the same venue. Hopefully next time, they’ll have all of their other guests present and be able to use the facilities the way they intended. The lodging was not open, nor was the indoor barn space. So A & R had to get crafty.”
Not everyone gets the second shot at wedding plans with the same partner, but we like to think that us covid couples are lucky in that way. Alex donned the same Anais Anette dress and this time they were determined to have all of their intended guests present. The vibe at Spructon Inn is chill, woodsy, outdoors and modern/minimalist with mountainous views. Allowing the Inn to shine with simple eucalyptus as decor, this couple just wanted to keep it casual. Just a Summer hang with a bonfire. It was not super formal, attire being casual-cocktail. Pretty much what we photographed in the Fall, but this time with 100 people.
Even though the facilities, such as the barn and lodging, were now re-opened, the venue is still somewhat DIY, since it was a tented reception. Thankfully, with the strategic help from the catering company Main Course Catering, it was a beautiful affair.
Steve and I arrived one day early to say hello at the rehearsal dinner and get reacquainted with everyone. We were invited to the BBQ food truck dinner and we hung out with the guests. Everything Alex and Ryan do is impossibly relaxed, but we know tons of planning went into every step (mostly thanks to Alex). Steve and I stayed offsite by Hunter Mountain. But the guests were able to stay conveniently in the adorable lodging provided by Spruceton Inn. If you ever have the chance to stay there, do it! You’ll wake up to incredible, panoramic views of the mountains. Now that we’ve been there twice, the Fall foliage is probably the most impressive time to be there. However, the Summertime is perfect for outdoor lawn games, hanging in the hammocks, hikes and evening bonfires.
Congrats x2 to Alex & Ryan!
