Queenie and Yixi FINALLY had their wedding day at Rock Island Lake Club last August!
It’s noteworthy to mention this was a postponed wedding and it took place on a Monday. I mean, Monday is the new Sunday these days, right? If you’re worried about choosing a weekday wedding, don’t be! In our experience, the party is twice as lit on a weeknight, for whatever reason. They each had family members travelling from China so they needed to wait until it was safe to travel internationally, especially as things worsened here in the U.S., so they could have all of their loved ones present. But August turned out to be the absolute best time for a wedding!
Coincidentally, their engagement session at Deep Cut Gardens was actually our first real session as we emerged from the pandemic!
The theme for the day was modern and rustic with a color scheme of dusty rose, pink, blush and burgundy. The bride’s wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses were from Morilee. There were even some hints of anime characters from their childhood. For example, their wedding cake topper had Yixi dressed as Totoro with a Pokemon ball in his hand and had Queenie dressed as Pikachu with their dog Mocha. It was so stinkin’ cute.
Hands down, the best part of the night was the choreographed bridal party group dance. It started with the ladies, then all eyes were on the groomsmen, finally ending with a mixed group dance. We were mouth agape. Steve and I could not fathom how they all learned all of those moves. If we’ve piqued your curiosity, scroll down to reception photos!
Congrats again to Queenie & Yixi!!
