We arrived at Sanaview Farms the Friday evening before Alison & Dan’s wedding to cover rehearsal dinner and get acclimated. After driving from New Jersey to just outside of Pittsburgh to a little country town called Champion, PA, it was nice to grab a drink and get acquainted with all of the important family members who would be attending their wedding the next day!
Sanaview was a beautiful farm that was spacious and had so much to offer as a wedding venue. We particularly loved this long path between thick trees between the ceremony site and barn venue space. Alison and Dan envisioned a laid-back farm wedding. They described the vibe as romantic and rustic. Bridesmaid dresses were blue, they held pale pink spring flowers, and there was lots of greenery.
Our biggest take-away was to always remember, don’t stress even if rain is in the forecast. The entire Memorial Day Weekend forecast predicted thunderstorms all weekend in the Pittsburgh area. Friday when we arrived was sunny but incredibly humid and hot. It was almost a huge relief when the rain finally came mid-day on Saturday! However, it came just after Alison and Dan had their first look. Fortunately, they were able to see each other and we had umbrellas on hand just as the rain began to drizzle. And then, we hurried inside the barn for cover. After some family photos indoors, the rain passed with only a few people having gotten a little soaked. We went right back outside for the rest of photos! They even still were able to have the outdoor ceremony they truly wanted.
If rain is your biggest problem on your wedding day, you should be grateful. Because it always winds up working out one way or the other. Alison and Dan had a beautiful ceremony and then when the rain returned, it didn’t even matter because everyone was partying by then. Steve and I were lucky enough to drive out to Pittsburgh from Champion, PA the next day after the wedding was over.
We left Sanaview Farms and spent MDW in Pittburgh. We walked along the iconic yellow bridges around the city. It was the kick-off weekend of the summer and everyone was out on their boats in the water, eating BBQ and having a beer. Pittsburgh is a very cool city to explore! We went to a Pittsburgh Pirates game, ate a Primanti Bros. sandwich and went to the Warhol Museum!
