There’s something magical about a summer wedding in Northern New Jersey. And Teia and Z’s Renaissance-inspired celebration at Camp Sacajawea last June was nothing short of enchanting. With a dramatic color palette of moody purples, deep charcoals, and rich gold accents, the day felt like a scene from a romantic fairytale. It was infused with personal touches, deep love, and a touch of fantasy.
One of our favorite details about their journey together was their unforgettable Dungeons & Dragons-inspired engagement. There was a hidden ring inside a custom dagger, which would later inspire the couple’s sword bouquets! That blend of adventure, creativity, and romance carried beautifully into their wedding day- where the woodsy setting of Camp Sacajawea set the stage for a weekend-long celebration with their loved ones.
Camp Sacajawea provided the perfect backdrop for the wedding, giving the couple and their families & friends full access to the grounds for an immersive experience. The woodsy atmosphere, dappled in early June sunlight, complemented the Renaissance aesthetic they envisioned with candlelit ambiance and an air of medieval elegance. It’s also worth noting that Teia designed and made their own pantsuit-cape combo!
Surrounded by towering trees and the warmth of summer, the ceremony was a breathtaking moment. The couple’s friend Micah was chosen as the officiant and performed a very personalized way of storytelling for the ceremony. The decision to forgo a first look made each of Teia and Z’s respective walks down the aisle even more poignant, with raw, heartfelt emotion reflected in every glance and vow. The wedding party of four on each side stood proudly, dressed in Azazie and Alain Dupetit, with hues that complemented the moody palette, enhancing the regal feel of the celebration.
Opting for an extended cocktail hour allowed the guests to revel in the joy of the day while Teia and Z took a moment to soak in the just-married glow. The sun didn’t set until just after 8:00pm, giving us the perfect opportunity to whisk them away for a few minutes during golden hour in a nearby field outside of the reception tent.
As the evening continued, the reception led by Don Cook of Puttin’ On the Hits led to moments of laughter, dancing, and love. We loved ending the night with Teia and Z sitting proudly on thrones, clinking cheers with their goblets. We wish them both a lifetime of happiness and a love that reflects the uniqueness of their wedding day!
