***Sigh*** Angela and Kristopher’s wedding at Lake Mohawk Country Club last April was a dream! We knew they’d be an easy-going, laidback couple and they made our jobs a breeze. From their Liberty State Park engagement session to the wedding day, the love these two share is positively effortless. We also felt like we were entering a real life romcom. Read on for more!

Surprise Airport Reconnection

We are truly obsessed with Angela and Kris’s airport reconnection, as well as their surprise engagement in Barcelona! 🙂

How did you meet & get engaged?

Oddly enough, Angela and Kris ran into each other in an out-of-state airport. Having known each other since middle school, and having had a fling during her senior year, as Kris was a year older – Angela continued to have a long-standing crush on him. But they didn’t date during college. About 6 or so years ago, fate brought them together again when he was traveling for work and she was living in Chicago. They coincidentally ended up in the same airport at the same time in Chicago, where Kris dropped his headphones walking by Angela. She tapped him and said “Excuse me sir, you dropped these.” Upon seeing Angela’s face, Kris was instantly bewildered and he jokingly asked, “Am I still in Newark??!,” thinking he was still in New Jersey!

This (re)-meet-cute eventually led to them grabbing food together once she was no longer in a relationship. The pandemic then prompted her move back from Chicago to New Jersey, specifically Parsippany, making their story feel like something out of a romcom or a Lifetime movie, especially since Kris had been her “one that got away.” Their careers now in biotech and commercial real estate respectively, they continue to travel spontaneously together, rekindling their connection that happened in the airport.

Angela studied abroad in Barcelona during her junior year of college, which was about 10 years ago, so it was a meaningful place for her, therefore this is where Kris finally proposed.

The Wedding Details

“The venue is described as ‘Rustic Elegance’ and is at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, on a lake with a wooden boardwalk. The bridesmaids are wearing a light sage, and flowers will be mostly greenery with soft white and some sandy pinks. The groomsmen will be in black tuxedos with bowties. Bridesmaids will be getting dressed in the “tower” on site and the groomsmen will be getting ready in the den. The main reception room has a massive window facing the lake, with windows along the sides and a big mirror in the back where the DJ will be. Table cloths are ivory to match the warm romantic lighting. There is recess lighting along the walls and in the ceiling, as well as string lighting. It will be spring so weather will be unpredictable. If the weather is nice, we plan to have the ceremony on the beach, if it is rainy it will be in the main reception room. We plan to have a first look, potentially with letter reading, followed by family photos prior to the 4:30pm ceremony.”

Flowers were provided by Redshaw’s Flower Shop and Pin It Up & Pout did a wonderful and professional job, as always, on the hair and makeup. Tunes were spun by DJ Nick Spinelli of SCE Event Group.
The bride’s dress was from David’s Bridal, the bridesmaid dresses were from Birdy Grey and the groom’s suit was from Indochino.

Angela and Kris’ wedding day was nothing short of elegant, yet laidback and comfortable, with Lake Mohawk as the perfect setting. It’s less of a typical a ballroom, but has more upscale “rustic-elegance.” The couple just wanted the moments documented to be about having fun with their friends & family at their party! We think that’s the right approach to the day and we wish A & K a lifetime of happiness (and more trips to the airport!)
