Amy and Kenny joined me at Jockey Hollow Park in Morristown, NJ for their June maternity session. The meadows were PERFECTLY overgrown this time of year. We love doing sessions like this in the Summertime because the sun sets later, golden hour gets super golden and the Earth gets super green.

(Word to the wise; find openings within meadow patches so it gives the appearance that the couple is deep in the brush, but try to avoid sticking everyone – including yourself – in deep, tall grass to avoid ticks, etc!)

We treat maternity sessions just like engagement/couple’s sessions (plus a bump and props like sonograms). If this isn’t your first baby and you have other children present then we treat it like a couple’s session meets family session. There should be the right balance of romance, love and excitement for welcoming a new addition to the fam. Maternity sessions can also be an opportunity for some solo portraits of a pregnant mama. We think EVERYONE should have the opportunity to feel beautiful and comfortable in their skin via a portrait session, pregnant or not!

Working with a couple like Amy and Kenny at a place like Jockey Hollow feels like all of the stars are aligning. They brought a great energy to their session, and you could see the mutual admiration they have for each other. Especially, the way Kenny looks at Amy.

Tell us about yourselves!

“Kenny and I have been together for almost 10 years (this July [2022])! We recently FINALLY had our wedding in September 2021 after having to postpone but we still got married on our original date of October 2020. We have moved quickly with wanting to have kids and we are so excited for this maternity shoot!”

Since this session, the couple welcomed Brody Charles to the world on August 13th, 2022. Congratulation to the growing little family!
