Katherine & Kevin are two of the classiest people ever! They chose Princeton University to meet for their engagement session. The ivy walls, stone steps, collegiate buildings and ornate architecture were amazing backdrops for this couple. These two give us romantic and classic Hollywood movie vibes.

A Black Tie Affair, For Two

While we never force anyone to wear formal attire for their engagement session, and their first outfit was spot on for what we recommend couples wear – which is something you’d wear out on a nice date together. But they totally surprised us and went with a coordinating black-tie elegant wardrobe for the second outfit change – and we totally LOVED it!! Steve and I, as people and photographers, are generally laid-back, not-so-fancy people. But whenever we have brides and grooms in front of us we get so excited to photograph the couple in a more elegant, editorial way. We are all about the natural & candid moments in between, but when a couple turns it out like this for a session – we take it and run with it! Kevin wore a black tie suit and Katherine wore an elegant white, one-shoulder floor-length dress. Again, this is NOT a requirement! But if it’s your personality to upscale yourself a little for your session, we aren’t stopping you! This is your session, we just want you to feel like YOU!

Wandering around Princeton University with this couple felt surreal. Every where you turn on the Princeton campus there’s another gorgeous building, and then another!

As we finally write this blog post, Katherine and Kevin have already had their wedding last October at Sheraton Eatontown, which was an equally classic and elegant day. We can’t wait to share that on the blog next!
