Alright guys, have you ever been to a wedding ceremony that took place under string lights at night in December on an ice rink!? Well, we hadn’t either until Courtney and Kevin’s wedding at Cedar Lakes Estate.
We are always awestruck by this venue every time we’re there. Seriously, go book your stay in one of their cottages right now. We even had our own engagement shoot there and we’ve worked there a few times since, but this was our first winter wedding at this venue. And the cozy, wintry vibes were a gamechanger!
These two clearly have an affinity for the holiday season in December. We also did their Hoboken Engagement Session in December. (*Side bar: since the wedding, Jen even just did their maternity session in January. We told them they are absolute pros at being photographed in the cold! Lol!)
The bride and groom prepped at their own respective Airbnbs in Port Jervis and nearby Goshen, NY, not far from the venue. They felt like magical little getaway cabins.
The color scheme included burgundy, blush and winter greens. The bridesmaid dresses were dark berry velvet Jenny Yoo from Bella Bridesmaids and the groom + groomsmen wore navy Jos A. Bank suits. The bride wore Essense of Australia from Kleinfeld’s in NYC.
The bride’s vision was “Wintry, Magical, Cozy, Inviting,” with the ceremony held just after sunset on an ice rink under the stars and twinkle lights. There was a vintage truck where guests could grab a cup of hot cocoa and plaid blankets were rolled up at each seating area bench for guests to keep warm.
Now I know what you’re thinking, “how did anyone possibly stand on that ice rink – was the bride in skates??” WELL, there was a long carpet runner laid out so that bride could walk down the aisle with ease. And just between us – it was one of those synthetic ice rinks. It *IS* slippery though and you do have to be careful on it, especially in heels or dress shoes! We do think this a particularly awesome idea to have the effect of an ice rink without any serious casualties. 🙂
The day proceeded with so many of our favorite vendors. Steve from Bucketlist Films was on video. Jeff Scott Gould of SCE Events DJed. Fred from Metro Photo Booth Bus was set up indoors, and the meticulous planner was Kristi Fiola from Weddings with Verve. We adore all of these vendors!! (And we’ve linked them all at the end of this post!) This was a star-studded event, in our opinion! 🙂
“We met online as my family was relocated from Canada while I was in University, so I never went to school here and did not know anyone here, so online was the best option! Kevin is a school teacher and coaches 3 sports throughout the year – Football, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. I work in the TV/Entertainment industry working on CRM campaigns (mobile & email). We have travelled a little bit over the 3 years together going to visit my extended family up in Canada, Savannah GA, Fort Worth/Arlington TX, and Highway 1 CA.”
Courtney and Kevin’s wedding day was a whimsical dream, just before Christmastime. We had a blast photographing this one. Can we also just mention their last names are “Wright” + “Persson,” so their hashtag game was strong!!
