We will forever be grateful that Lindsey and Mike hired us to photograph their wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania – because it was an EXPERIENCE. Also because we gained some pretty rad friends.
From the first consult call, we vibed with this couple over art and music. Both are visual artists of many trades; from cooking (at midnight, lol), to professional hairstyling, tattoo artistry, mixed media and more – these two are the definition of a power couple.
When I met up with these two to do their engagement session, I knew purely from the sequined black maxi dress that Lindsey wore that they were going to give me LIFE. This is your sign to do whatever the hell you want for your entire wedding planning process! Throw the rule book out the window, make it about you and your relationship!
Then, when they asked me to cover Lindsey’s backyard bridal shower – complete with a drag show – I knew I was all in with these two.
So when it came time for the wedding, we had a good feeling but little did we know JUST how awesome it would be. I walked into the bridal prep suite at the Cork Factory and saw Lindsey’s Punk Barbie dress hanging in the window – I was like, “This is going to be a solid day.”
Whether it’s wearing Converse or a pink dress, burgundy suit, custom tiger patches sewn onto your loafers or playing YOUR punk rock playlist (THANK YOU guys for playing The Used, Say Anything, etc and not the typical wedding playlist we hear every weekend) – take a cue from Lindsey and Mike. You don’t have to fit anyone else’s wedding mold but YOUR OWN.
The Cork Factory Hotel is an actual converted factory. An industrial but modern setting, we had been excited all along because the environment is very similar to our own “industrial-chic” wedding. Here is how the couple described the mood:
“Aesthetically, the vibe is dark, moody and Autumnal. Decorations have mauves, dark greens, sage greens, gold, and animal skulls. The venue is a lot of exposed brick work and raw/natural wood.
Lindsey is wearing a dusty rose colored dress and her bridesmaids are going to be in black velvet dresses. Mike will be wearing a burgundy suit with black shoes, gold accents and the groomsmen are wearing black suits with white shirts and burgundy bow ties.
Vibe for the wedding is fun. Jen has seen the way we like to get down at Lindsey’s Shower and we want even bigger energy for the wedding. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, haha. And to contrast all the dark and moodiness, there will be neon pink decorations and signage!”
Did we mention it was also Halloweekend? There were a few nods to spooky season here and there, too, such as their skeletal champagne flutes and signature drinks like the “Monster Mash.”
Everything about this wedding was 10/10. Sooooo, guys – when are we doing a vow renewal?? Let’s do it all over again, lol!
