Asbury Park Convention Hall Wedding

Somehow, January dragged on forever but we are already on the last week of February! Usually February just draaaags on. To speed things up a little bit more, we thought we’d share Kerry & Lawrence’s Asbury Park wedding at the Asbury Park Convention Hall from last Summer!

This couple got ready at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, which overlooks the ocean across from the Asbury Park Boardwalk. After doing a first look and portraits here, they held their church ceremony just close enough so we could get back and take even more photos on the boardwalk! You absolutely cannot get married in Asbury Park without taking photos on the boardwalk. The aesthetic was Art Deco / Art Nouveau, but with a low-key beachy vibe. The color scheme included metallics, sea foam and coral.

The overarching theme of music is the tie that binds Kerry & Lawrence together. We also shot their engagement session around Asbury Park and they went into a record shop. We thought this was such a cool idea because it’s something they frequently do together. The centerpieces at their wedding reception were various vinyl records they love. There was vintage-inspired decor and a live band. We walked into the reception space at the Convention Hall and literally said out loud “Wow!” We see A LOT of reception spaces, but the Convention Hall is just so cool for a wedding. Their wedding felt like a VIP concert. (We just felt lucky enough to be there and document everything!)

The Little Things.

Something truly memorable for us, was that we ran upstairs at the end of cocktail hour to grab a quick bite of what was left as the guests entered reception. Kerry and Lawrence were still sitting up there at a private table, having something to eat in peace without guests bombarding them. We were so glad to see them having some alone time away from everyone – something we HIGHLY recommend to all of our couples. Slow down and have some private time alone together. But, as we walked nearby, Kerry & Lawrence invited us to sit down with them. We asked them if they were sure, we didn’t want to encroach on their alone time. But they encouraged us to sit down and have a bite with them. We felt SO honored. We sat and chatted with them about the day so far and how much we were enjoying working with them. Little moments like this make our job totally worthwhile. We are so grateful when our couples feel comfortable enough to just hang with us. Kerry & Lawrence you guys are awesome and we are still raving about your wedding day!
