Emily & Nunzio held their July wedding at the Art Factory in Paterson, NJ. They wanted to channel a style that was both mid-century and new modern, with a non-traditional flair. The Art Factory is the perfect place for an alternative wedding day. While they favored candid moments, they wanted it to also feel editorial by embracing the textured surfaces of this re-imagined silk factory.
Steve and I used to rent studio space at the Art Factory back in 2017. It wasn’t until recently that they became a full-blown wedding venue. Each floor has so much character on its own between the weathered floors, exposed brick and varying paint colors on the walls. There is an inherent charm to this place and amazing natural window light that makes the Art Factory a dream for portrait backgrounds. Now that they’ve added plenty of string lighting, there is a minimal & industrial – but comfortable quality that’s perfect for a warehouse style wedding.
The couple described their vibe as a unique combination of saturated & tropical hues, aged surfaces, Afro-Latin and Italian influences with vintage details. Cocktail hour had a Latin percussionist, which was appreciated by guests who came from deep Italian and Puerto Rican roots. Catering was provided by The Brownstone with many classic Italian dishes. Emily & Nunzio ordered flowers from Fiftyflowers.com and DIYed their tropical Cuban / South American floral arrangements. While incorporating very vibrant pops of color, the rest of the scheme was black and white. We loved the choice to put the bridesmaids in white shift dresses – who said the bride is still the only one who can wear white!? The palm leaves the girls held had us ready to head to the islands. The groomsmen wore linen suits from Suit Supply, which also indulged in the Cuban / South American theme. We were just so in love with the style of this wedding. Even more so, we fell in love with Emily & Nunzio and their dedication to their family and roots. There is something really special about a wedding day when you make it something that’s so very uniquely your own and represents your heritage, your love and the direction you’re headed in together.
