Jen & Ken had planned their entire wedding day to be at the Wave Resort in Long Branch, NJ. They were lucky enough to still have the ceremony and majority of their photos done as planned at the venue. When covid changed their ability to hold the reception at Wave Resort, they had to re-plan for a backyard reception. In our opinion, they had the best of both worlds! The ceremony and photos they wanted by the beach, with a woodsy Halloween backyard wedding reception!
“Our color scheme is: pinks, fall reds and oranges, and some darker blues. We’re going for a moody, romantic, boho vibe (moody but not too dark). I’m hoping for an overcast morning (followed by a BEAUTIFUL sun-soaked afternoon and evening… fingers crossed??) because I dislike when beach photos are all “cheery” and “sunny.” I like beach shots when it’s stormy/fall weather, so I’m a bit weary about The Wave’s photos. Once we head to the backyard, everything will be very rustic/ boho/ old/ eclectic. This is when I’m hoping for the gorgeous sun-soaked, golden shots – inspired by our first dance song, Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves!”
We think this couple really got what they were hoping for. Sure, it was a sunny day with blue skies at the Wave Resort (although Jen wanted the stormy/cloudy look), but the sunshine was greatly welcome! It was one of the first days that really felt like fall, and there was a chill in the air especially by the ocean. The sun was shining but in the early fall, it isn’t as harsh as it is during the summer.
They shared a beautiful ceremony in the upstairs loft space of the Wave Resort overlooking the water.
Then later, after heading back to their house, Jen’s wishes were granted. Golden hour was beginning right away and we brought them out back behind the house among the woods.
These two definitely threw a classy “Hallowedding.” The theme wasn’t in your face, just reminiscent in the color scheme and some of the decor around the backyard. Under the tent, their sweetheart table included a display of candles and some cool orange-velvet chairs they thrifted. There were multiple amazing food truck options, plenty of candy and drinks.
“We went to the same high school but didn’t officially meet until college! We love to go to dinner & a movie or hang out with my sister and brother-in-law and their 2 golden retrievers 🙂 We’re currently binging Seinfeld!”
Congrats again to Jen & Ken, we’re so glad you had your perfect day!
