The funniest part about Casey reaching out to us about her David’s Country Inn wedding, was when she said “I went to high school with Steve!” Little did she know, that once she said her fiance’s name was “Joe Podence,” I realized that I went to high school with him! New Jersey really can be such a small world. Steve and I both knew many of their guests, which made for a really fun party! But Casey & Joe’s party would’ve been fun either way because these two BRING the party. They were one of the first to kick off our 2021 season in May and we’re so glad they did!
When asked to describe the mood of the wedding, Casey said: “Intimate, romantic, fun and rustic.” They wanted to accentuate all the historical aspects to the interior and exterior at David’s. And Casey’s favorite spots were all the velvet couches and, of course, the ivy wall and porch. The colors were dusty rose, with eucalyptus greens, gold and ivory.
These two were all about candids and having fun. They actually opted not to do a first look, which was very sweet to keep it traditional (and Joe definitely balled his eyes out when he saw her coming down the aisle!) We never force you to do a first look, as long as there’s time worked into the schedule for all of your important photos! There are some logistical things to work around at David’s Country Inn because the prep rooms in the Warren Suite are literally side by side with a wall between them. We set the day up so that Casey, her girls and her immediate family would take photos first outside. Then once Joe was dressed and ready, she went back upstairs and he headed outside for his turn.
They decided to extend their cocktail hour to 90 minutes. Which was perfect, because we were able to photograph the last family groupings, bridal party all together and finally the most important shots of all – Casey and Joe alone around David’s! It was a whirlwind but it all got done, with even enough time for the bride and groom to ACTUALLY enjoy their cocktail hour! This is super important and we really encourage making time in the schedule if you’re not doing a first look, you really shouldn’t have to miss your cocktail hour. It’s like missing a chunk of you’re own wedding day! Heed our advice and always make time! You’ll never regret it.
We can’t talk about Casey & Joe’s wedding without mentioning their pup Chevy! Who walked Joe down the aisle and stood by his side the entire ceremony. Chevy was SO sweet and well behaved. He had a blast running around the courtyard at David’s afterwards during photos. It was also such a personal touch to have their fur-baby present.
Another noteworthy part of the day was that they entered into their reception to The Office theme song. Best. Entrance. Song. Ever.
