Danielle and Craig were married lakeside on a balmy September day at Lake Valhalla Club in Montville, NJ. Their vision was simplicity with a touch of elegance at this rustic venue. By the end of September, the lake was surrounded by trees with green and yellow leaves. 

It wasn’t quite Fall yet, which was very apparent. The Summer sun and humidity wasn’t ready to give up. However, this just felt right for a lake club wedding vibe.

The couple described the event as formal but casual. Craig wore a black tux with a tweed gray vest and bow tie. Flowers consisted of natural greenery, with white blooms and small touches of blues and yellows. The bridesmaids dresses were slate blue and were either from Sorella Vita or Bill Levkoff. The subtle hints of blue were the perfect nod to the blue lake and skies on this sunny day. The rest of the color scheme included ivory and black, which influenced the invitations that were designed by the bride on Minted. 

Lakeside Ceremony

Lake Valhalla Club welcomes guests to the back beach area for the ceremony overlooking the lake. The Adirondack chairs around the lake made it feel like you were on a relaxing getaway. Toward the sides of the lake, you’ll find an area with swimming lanes, starting blocks and swimming flags. Craig and Danielle were both swimmers in high school, but did not meet until later in life. This joint love of swimming is one of the reasons they chose this venue. So of course we took them on the docks for photos prior to the ceremony!

A balcony overlooking dance-floor gave us a bird’s eye perspective, and this crowd LOVED to dance. Danielle had personalized touches, like their dog Leila’s head made into a big foam-core cut-out from fathead.com. Leila was there for photos earlier in the day, but obviously couldn’t attend the reception. So their fur-baby could still be there in spirit. 🙂 And it was hilarious watching the guests pass it around over their faces on the dance-floor.
