Bonnie and Lonnie’s New Year’s Eve wedding FINALLY took place at Hoboken’s Kolo Klub. After covid postponements, the bride and groom celebrated by ringing in the new year with friends and family. A foggy evening rolled in with twinkling, distant views of the NYC skyline – right across the Hudson from where the ball drops in Times Square!
These two are part of the two-timers club – AKA covid wedding couples (like us) who had a backyard wedding …and then a bigger wedding! And it was worth the wait for these two to FINALLY have their big blow-out NYE wedding with all of their family and friends! PLUS with a HUGE announcement. At the NYE wedding, Bonnie and Lonnie announced that they were pregnant!!
Some things you should know about these two: They love Bob’s Burgers. We mutually share a bond over the date 9/3. (Cue the Bob’s Burgers anniversary joke, “Nine is divisible by three, 9/3”).
Additionally, rabbits have a lot of symbolism in their relationship as well, just like ours. After first speaking to them over the phone, I was dumbfounded by how much we had in common. I felt an instant connection with all of their creative ideas, as well as their love of both editorial posing mixed with lots and lots of candids.
“Elegant, romantic and editorial, with black and white photos preferable.” The late evening fog only added moodiness to the couple’s NYE Winter wedding. The white/amber up-lighting and string lights added ambiance to the affair that mirrored the NYC skyline.
Bonnie doesn’t love being the center of attention in photos and prefers candids, while Lonnie is more of the traditional one (Bonnie called him the bride in the situation, lol!)
The couple preferred that we placed more emphasis on people and emotions, to focus on precious and authentic moments between family members and friends. These two recognized that a wedding day can be an absolute blur and prefer the quieter moments and reactions. After just waiting to simply hold their wedding, they wanted real memories that reminded them of how they really felt and everyone’s faces. The in-between moments. They did, however, enjoy a mix of natural photos along with some more editorial, dynamic posing. Before all of the guests arrived, we were able to use the Kolo Klub’s joint ceremony and reception space with string lighting for those staged photos.
Bonnie loves Frank Sinatra & slow dancing. She’s an “old soul” romantic. Everything about this NYE wedding overlooking the NYC skyline at the Kolo Klub brought that feeling to life!
