Marissa & Max’s Mansion at Mountain Lakes wedding vision was “winter romance.” Marissa wanted rustic elegance with a hint of glam.
The ceremony space at the Mansion has a modern and polished rustic feel with updated sliding barn doors. Yet, the ballroom is sleek, clean and more traditional. The space is very romantic with its chandeliers complemented by wooden accents. There are lots of spaces within the venue to use on a chilly winter day like this one! The color scheme consisted of navy, maroon with pops of gold, mauve, ivory and navy.
Marissa and her girls got ready in the bridal suite on site while Max and his guys prepped at his parents house. The suite was actually an impressive space for getting ready, with its clean and bright, spacious rooms. There’s even a big “antique” mirror! These two shared a first look so they had plenty of time for photos before their ceremony. We think it’s important to mention that this is key for a winter wedding, post-daylight savings, when the sun sets early!
Steve and I had the privilege of meeting their adorable golden retriever, Piper, during our hike for their engagement session. We knew Piper would play a big role in their wedding day! After Marissa came down the aisle, the music suddenly switched to – you guessed it – “Who Let the Dogs Out” and Piper came sprinting down the aisle to be with her mom and dad. It was insanely adorable.
For the rest of the evening, the guests had a blast in the ballroom of Mansion at Mountain Lakes. The DJ was a DJ-Band hybrid and the instrumentalists came out onto the dancefloor and really got the party going. Marissa and Max took turns drumming. Outside in the foyer, there was a unique guest book. It was an “audio guest book,” so guests could leave the couple voice recordings on a vintage phone. This was so cool, we had never seen this before!
This couple’s cake cutting was pretty hysterical, as Max planted a cake smash right in Marissa’s face and she was SUCH a good sport about it!! It’s also noteworthy to mention they even went up on chairs (as per Jewish tradition on Max’s side) and it made for some great expressions in photos. This wedding was 100% a good time.
“We met at the Oakland Diner! We LOVE The Office and probably have binge-watched it 4x…in the past year lol. We love our Golden, Piper! Max loves the snow and Marissa loves the beach…I guess opposites attract, haha!”
