Last January, Katie + Sigala’s wedding at David’s Country Inn in Hackettstown, New Jersey felt more like Spring than a Winter wedding! The temp was in the 50s and we were all outside without coats on!
The couple chose David’s because it’s the perfect setting for a winter wedding with its historical coziness. They planned for an indoor ceremony, but it was so unexpected that we could do all the other photos primarily outdoors by the ivy wall and courtyard!
Katie’s vision was classic, elegant, modern; black & white with touches of gold and greenery. It was so awesome that we’d be able to do almost all of their photos outdoors! Katie and Sigala expressed that they don’t like photos that feel overly posed, they love when couples appear natural and comfortable. So we opted to take things slow and really let them hang out with their friends and family – as opposed to posing too much. We knew a lot of their crew because almost all of Katie’s bridal party included her TCNJ friend group. We’ve now had the pleasure of photographing almost all of their weddings! We felt right at home, too. Therefore, we let the day unfold naturally so we could just hang out and document lots of candids.
It was a really sweet touch that Katie’s uncle James officiated the ceremony. Additionally, we were super stoked to see our good pal Bob of Fantasy Productions! The whole day felt fun and familiar for everyone involved.
The bride got ready with her girls in the Warren suite and Sigala got ready in a nearby hotel. The couple shared their first look by the ivy wall on the side of David’s and it was an adorably emotional moment because they’ve known each other since freshman year of college!
Katie’s dress was Stella York by Essense of Australia from Hearts for You. The Maid of Honor’s dress was Jenny Yoo from Bella Bridesmaids and the rest of the bridesmaids wore black dresses from Birdy Grey. Sigala’s tux was from The Black Tux. We loved the simple elegance of the scheme and vision!
“We met our freshman year of college at The College of New Jersey. We’ll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this March! Sal proposed while we were on vacation in England, this past summer. We went on a walk in a park near the neighborhood he grew up in and he asked me to marry him there! In our free time we like to spend time with our friends, family and labradoodle Hazel! We love living in Absury Park and spend a lot of time in town and at the beach.”
