A few years ago, we photographed a wedding at the Deserted Village Feltville. This gem of a spot is part of Watchung Reservation, located in Mountainside, New Jersey. The grounds are filled with historic homes, fall foliage and plenty of hiking trails. Consequently, the village is an excellent spot for an engagement session. We recommended it to Filomena & Denis because of their love of hiking trails. There’s even an old barn that holds weddings and across the way, a ceremony site is complete with a rustic, wooden pergola.
The weather had dipped down to 40’s and 50’s. The leaves had turned, but it felt like winter already. Never feel discouraged by less than perfect weather on a shoot. If it’s cold or rainy, it only makes you more cozy! Luckily, Filomena brought a big scarf that doubled as a blanket. They held each other closely for warmth. Suddenly, we had one of the most epic sunsets we’ve ever seen. Peeking through the trees, the golden hour light shed through at the perfect time. We made our way over to a meadow as the sun had nearly set. Finally, we finished among the amazing fall colors the trees had to offer. We can’t wait for their wedding at Waterloo Village next fall!
