Last August, Caitlyn and Mike’s boho-chic Summertime wedding at Waterloo Village was an absolute dream to photograph! From the get-go, we knew Caitlyn’s vision was going to align very closely with our own.
After meeting them for their engagement session at the incredibly breathtaking Minnewaska State Park, we knew we were in for a romantic and whimsical day.
The bride’s amazing dress with detachable sleeves was Flora from Bridal Atelier in Montclair, NJ. The bridesmaid dresses were from Show Me Your Mumu. The groom’s suit was Indochino and groomsmen wore The Black Tux.
The vision was “boho, rustic & romantic.” A laidback wedding, but still formal. Waterloo Village is a historical site, so there are so many great textural backgrounds and buildings to choose from. In August, everything is green and lush. String lights dot the perimeter around the reception/cocktail area, inviting guests to mingle outdoors. The couple chose Waterloo for all of the nature, wood and historical buildings. They also loved that it was rustic without being a literal barn.
The reason Caitlyn and Mike chose Minnewaska for their engagement session, was because Mike proposed the previous April during their stay in a tiny house near Kaaterskill Falls. Mike spends part of his time in a rescue crew, and Caitlyn teaches dance. These two love a good adventure, which was highlighted by their choice of Waterloo.
The couple got ready at Residence Inn by Marriott Mt. Olive at International Trade Center before heading over to Waterloo for the finishing touches. After sharing their first look by the shady trees and string-lit firepit, we road around the venue in golf carts admiring the beautiful day they had been graced with. The couple held their quaint ceremony down by the wishing well. They read their own vows and shared a knot tying ceremony. The talented Owls and Lions sung the acoustic ceremony tunes and were also a DJ-band hybrid for the reception. We are ALWAYS impressed with them and their ability to keep a good party going.
Video was done by our good friend Carianne of Carried Away Films, and it’s always a fun time when we all team up!
Additionally, one of the more noteworthy moments included Caitlyn and Mike petting the alpacas during cocktail hour. 🙂
The sun set is so much later in August, closer 8pm, so the last of the night involved some golden hour shots in the field and some firepit night shots. Otherwise we remained more documentary and candid.
Congratulations again to Caitlyn & Mike!
