Before I even talk about Jamie and Leigh Anne’s Bliss Ridge Farm wedding in Moretown, Vermont, I’m already trying to figure out how to keep this concise. We have A LOT to say.
Jamie and Leigh Anne are a part of our friend group, which is how Steve and I met. Steve used to play bass in an instrumental Post-Rock band called World’s Away. He bounced around within the scene, playing shows and meeting other bands. Which brings us to how he met our friend’s band, Prawn. Steve met Prawn and this formed a big web that tied our friend groups together. Before I even met Steve, I also saw Prawn perform/met them at house parties. We just had similar circles of friends. I had a lot of friends who were musicians and I often brought my camera along to take photos (as one did, circa ’07). I also grew up on the same street as one of their guitarists, Kyle.
So long story short, Jamie is the drummer in Prawn. As we all started hanging out more at parties, I also got to know Leigh Anne during the beginnings of their relationship. As it would turn out, they are the only other couple in our friend group that has been together as long as Steve and I have!
We ALL ended up postponing our weddings to the following year, 2021. We really commiserated during this time with Jamie and Leigh Anne. We were going through a lot of the same things together. They were like our anchor reminding us that we were not alone through the entire wedding planning process.
Flash forward to what felt like the LONGEST wait, Steve and I were finally driving up to Vermont to photograph their big day at Bliss Ridge Farm! They say good things come to those who wait, and boy is it true.
The theme was “rustic Fall,” with a color scheme of dark reds, greens, and whites. The venue was surrounded by beautiful mountains and the couple wanted nature to play a big part of their wedding. Leigh Anne’s dress was Maria Leona from I do…I do… in Morristown, NJ. The bridesmaid dresses were a burgundy-wine color from David’s Bridal. Jamie wore a charcoal-grey suit from Jos A Bank, with a burgundy-wine tie, matching pocket square, and brown shoes.
A really beautiful part of their wedding was that Tony’s (lead singer of Prawn) mother Kathryn was their officiant. Tony and Jamie are like brothers, but closer. Having Kathryn officiate the ceremony was personal and heartfelt.
This ceremony truly had us in tears. It was so wonderful to finally see two beautiful and deserving souls form this special union after such a long wait. And it was an added bonus that their adorable German Shepherd Ella and her sister Aida (Tony’s dog) walked down the aisle together, handled by Tony.
A special song was also played by our other friends Frank and Stephen who have their own band, Caravela.
At the end of the ceremony, Steve spotted me as I climbed up on top of a ladder to document a big group photo of ALL the guests before they headed down to the cocktail party in the field. When you have panoramic, mountainous views like the ones at Bliss Ridge Farm, this photo is a MUST.
Afterward, Jamie and Leigh Anne shared an impressive choreographed first dance. Then the reception raged on with the live band, Hillary & the Party Crashers and guests were surprised by a Palmer Lane Maple ice cream truck. At the end of the night when the main band’s set was finished, an acoustic Irish pub band called Green Corduroy closed out the night. It was such a memorable weekend filled with good food, drinks, music and friends!
“Leigh Anne’s parents would not allow her to move off campus her junior year at Manhattan College. Jamie was returning to college after taking a year off to pursue music and travel. In 2009, two weeks before the semester started, Jamie transferred to Manhattan College. They both were placed in Jasper Hall, the misfit dorm for transfer students and upperclassman. On a night of “extracurricular activities” Leigh Anne met Jamie on the stoop of their dorm and they have been a part of each others lives since.”
“Leigh Anne’s parents were avid skiers and decided to purchase a condo in Warren, Vermont in the late 1970’s. The condo is located mountain side to Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush. Leigh Anne learned to ski there as a child and spent many family weekends away swimming in the rivers and enjoying all Vermont has to offer. In 2012, Leigh Anne invited Jamie to join her for a weekend on the slopes. After our first trip up together, we have been hooked and now call Vermont a second home. We love everything Vermont has to offer. We hope everyone will enjoy mountain views, craft brews, hiking, local farmed food, and the slower pace of life as much as we do. We encourage everyone to come back during the winter months for some fantastic skiing and snowboarding!”
