Edmund and Haley had the most beautiful & intimate backyard wedding in Yonkers, NY last fall. When covid changed their bigger plans of holding the wedding in Brooklyn, they opted for Haley’s family home in Yonkers. This turned out to be more perfect than they could have imagined.
All the important people were there for them. Their officiant was Haley’s roommate from college, who is currently a Presbyterian minister in Philadelphia. Her dad gave a loving speech that brought some tears to the crowd. Just being at home in Yonkers made the whole ceremony very intimate and personal. Neighbors dropped by and watched from a distance.
Just because you’re having a backyard wedding does not mean you’re sacrificing a beautiful wedding day. Check out Edmund and Haley’s decor set-up for some amazing backyard-chic inspiration. Cozy farm tables under a tent adorned with string lights created an outdoor ambiance that’s sometimes unachievable in a cold ballroom type of setting. Their original venue in Brooklyn was more of a warehouse-loft vibe. But we think this backyard setting in Yonkers was equally gorgeous.
We took the couple out on the streets and chased the sunlight after the ceremony. We sort of had to stand in busy residential intersections, but hey you just have to get creative shooting backyard weddings!
Toward the end, everyone was chatting outside with their drinks on the lawn. Favors like homemade honey and individually wrapped prosecco bottles were a sweet touch.
It was one of those magical little nights, where you don’t really need much else. Congrats to Edmund & Haley!
