Backyard Wedding in PA: Portraits at Curtis Arboretum

Brianne & John had a totally different, original location for their wedding, but decided on Curtis Arboretum so they wouldn’t miss out on beautiful photos before their Plan B backyard ceremony. When we asked what the general vibe would be, they literally said “Plan B” covid vibes, ha! Also a rustic backyard setting, with LOTS of sunflowers. Sunflowers mean a lot to these two. In case you missed it, here was their engagement session at Alstede Farms Sunflower Maze. For their wedding day, there was also a navy blue color scheme with elements of natural wood & market string-lights.

Backyard weddings are the new thing and we love the challenge of finding unique places for portrait backdrops. However, we felt so sorry that Brianne & John wouldn’t be able to take photos at their original venue. When they told us they decided upon Curtis Arboretum, we were thrilled! There place is a beautiful mixture of nature and architecture, plus lots of room to spread out the bridal party.

Tip for a backyard wedding

Having a backyard wedding is great, and sometimes you absolutely don’t need a secondary photo location. But, if you know your backyard is on the smaller side, it’s always good to do some research for where you can take some scenic photos. Curtis Arboretum made it simple & easy to do all the necessary portraits, before we went back to their home for the ceremony and dancing.

Brianne & John are impossibly cute together, and they wanted to add a lot of personal touches to their day. One being catering from Clean Plate Club Truck. We are not exaggerating when we say this was better than almost any meal from a venue we’ve ever had. We’ll take a casual & delicious food truck over the typical chicken/steak/fish any day!

We are SO glad Brianne & John still got married in 2020. It was a beautiful, early September day filled with sunshine and love.
