Julia and Elijah celebrated their wedding at one of our favorite places, Waterloo Village! The historic architecture, quiet nature trails, and adorable animals reflected their old-soul energy and shared love for the outdoors. They met online after both attending Montclair State University, and years later, Elijah proposed while they were camping in the Catskills. So it only made sense to choose a venue surrounded by nature, animals, and that unmistakable down-to-earth charm.
Julia wore a romantic gown from Bijou Bridal as Elijah looked timeless in a custom Indochino suit. Her bridesmaids stood beside her in warm pink and terracotta-toned gowns from Birdy Grey — a palette that felt soft and earthy, yet bold enough to match the warmth of a summer afternoon.
NE Flower Boutique filled the ceremony and reception with artful florals — a mix of eucalyptus, cream blooms, and terracotta accents that added a dreamy, boho touch to every corner of the village!
Just after they said “I do,” two alpacas made a surprise appearance, delighting guests and making for some of the cutest photo ops of the day. Julia and Elijah couldn’t stop laughing — it was unique, wonderful, and so perfectly them.
The party picked up fast, with great energy on the dance floor. It was especially sweet that Eli sang a tribute song written by his late father to Jules (a total surprise to the bride!) This was a song his father had sang at his own wedding. We were all in happy, beautiful, blubbering tears. Guests lined up at the Metro Photo Bus (our favorites!!) for snapshots in between dances, adding another layer of fun to an already joy-filled day!
“We met on the dating app Hinge on June 11, 2018, and had our first date a week later on June 18 at Toast in Montclair, NJ, which was followed with a trip to a bookstore and coffee to end the day.
We (still) love to go to bookstores and coffee shops, museums, zoos, music concerts, and embark on occasional photoshoots. Much of our time is spent reading quietly together, or exploring spirituality, or spending time with family and friends. We’re both animal lovers and musicians, and are always looking for ways to be of better help to other people.
Julia loves crafting, discovering new food recipes, and watering her house plants. I love Tolkien, writing, and feeding my coffee addiction. She’s very extroverted, and I’m very introverted (though we’re slowly meeting each other in the middle). And our favorite place on Earth is Disney World.”
While on vacation in the Catskills, all their friends came up and surprised Julia. Elijah arranged a “photoshoot” in an arboretum. Then they had lunch with friends and saw a Steely Dan concert together alone later that night! 🙂
