Want to know what Rock Island Lake Club looks like in March? Here’s Val & Danny’s early Spring wedding in March. You might remember their engagement session at Cross Estate Gardens previously on our blog. These two have such a sweet chemistry together! When they chose Rock Island as their venue for a March wedding, I think even they weren’t quite sure what the trees and scenery would look like. Turns out – it looks a lot like the fall! AND they had a crazy 75 degree day, so there’s that. 🙂
“Our vibe for the day is romantic, rustic, and fun. Danny and his groomsmen will be wearing midnight blue tuxedos and the bridesmaids will be wearing a mauve/pink color (DessyGroup dresses in sienna colored fabric). Our flowers will be white and pink with eucalyptus and dusty miller.”
Like many of our couples, Val & Danny wanted photos that felt true to their day. A little moodiness, but colors evocative of their early Spring wedding. Modern, traditional and polished but also muted & darker allowing Rock Island’s simplistic beauty to be naturally showcased as their portrait backdrops. These two are not into the “light and airy” trend but prefer photos that are richer and more defined.
The weather was unreal after a cold winter, so we stayed outside for the entirety of their portraits and made use of the dock, lake & swing. 🙂 They both prepped and held the ceremony on site. There was a first look so they could get all of their important photos done early. The sun did not set until just after 7:00pm so we took the couple out on the dock once more for some magic hour photos. These two loved the view at Rock Island and how free-flowing the grounds outside transition into indoor spaces. The open concept makes it easy to access everything like the outdoor firepits without breaking up the party.
“We met through a mutual friend at our local watering hole, where we quickly realized we shared the same passion for the New York Rangers and cooking. After a VERY romantic first date that included a 3D movie (Jurassic Park – not kidding) it was all she wrote.
Coincidentally, we lived in the same town and graduated from the same High School 1 year a part, but never actually met until a couple years after college.
In our spare time we love cooking, relaxing, and venturing. I realize venturing is very broad but it’s pretty all-encompassing – whether it’s traveling to a quick getaway spot, finding unique trails/lakes, trying a new brewery, we love getting out of the house and seeing new things.”
