Kayla Cappiello considers herself a “food blogger and allergy queen.” Living with many dietary restrictions, she found catharsis in sharing her allergy-free recipe ideas on her site and Instagram @kaylacappiello.
I had the pleasure of first meeting Kayla at her sister’s wedding in 2020. The love of food also runs in the family. We even had her mom Jean, owner of Cookie Tray, make my cookie favors for my own bridal shower! (And yes, they were delicious!)
After making this connection, Kayla reached out about photographing her portraits for the upcoming release of her new cookbook entitled “Easy Allergy-Free Cooking.” This cookbook is filled with gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, nut free and vegan recipes. I was so excited to do this for her since I’m a big foodie myself. And while I’m fortunate to not be faced with any severe allergies or dietary restrictions, I always love trying different recipes with healthier alternatives. And I love the idea of appealing to folks with allergies who are at a loss for new recipe ideas.
You can find out more details about how to purchase her book here.
Since this portrait session, Kayla and I have worked together a few more times to keep up with her content. And Steve and I will have the pleasure of photographing her and her fiance Andrew’s wedding this coming August!
“I am both gluten free and tree nut free… and as though that wasn’t enough, I’m also lactose intolerant too. I clearly have a lot of allergies and dietary restrictions but I knew I couldn’t be the only one out there, so these recipes are for YOU! I focus on creating easy, healthy meals for you guys that are allergy friendly but still taste delicious. I’m super passionate about mix and match ingredients to make my recipes work for everyone no matter what restriction you have. Everyone is welcomed <3”
